I was tripping balls, as they say, when I wrote it.
Peaking on psilocybin mushrooms. In that playful space between the lessons and the afterglow.
I had the thought that if everyone in the world literally joined hands and lifted up, we would all levitate.
So I wrote down, “if we all lift up, we can levitate.” Which, after pacing around the house in my already elevated condition, I changed to, “if we lift each other up, we can levitate.”
Okay, there’s a chorus!
And I had been playing around with writing songs using only two chords, like all the best pieces of dance music. So I married that phrase to a peppy little F#-to-A progression with an early Talking Heads-type groove.
Then I asked my buddies Ram Dass and Joseph Campbell for some lyrical inspiration for the verses. They came through for me, naturally. They always do. My guys! So that’s why this upbeat ditty begins with the phrase, “We all die, we all die.”
Eventually the chords elevated to A and C. The groove became a bit less herky-jerky and a little more driven, pulsing.
I recorded it last summer in a pretty charged emotional state. Using some new and different recording techniques. Drum machine, synth bass, directly injected guitar, nearly no reverb. A fresh sound for me!
And I think it came out pretty fucking great!
Annie created some lovely and playful cover art, I made a few final tweaks to the mix, and now the song has finally been shared with you and the rest of the cosmos!
The song in question is called “We Can Levitate,” and it is available for streaming on all platforms!

“We Can Levitate” – The Official Visualizer
I made a fun “visualizer” video for the song, too. It’s me dancing and running out of breath while bathed in psychedelic light. And then there’s an iMovie cartoon filter over it all. Cool!
Check it out on YouTube, and while you’re over there, make sure you subscribe to my channel if you haven’t done so already. Many thanks!

Like, I can tell someone to listen to my music and it doesn’t mean a whole lot. But when a friend tells that someone to listen, well, that’s a big deal. So thank you again for your kind attention and effort. It means a ton to me. Truly.
Remember to also check out my Underground Eclectic Spotify playlist. If you’re into music like the kind I make and you’re looking for more new, left-of-center music to listen to, you’ll dig this playlist.
